A Soul in Torment
FATHER GILBERT, vicar of St. Mark’s Church, had heard lots of confessions in his life—both as a former detective and now as an Anglican priest. But he had never heard one as strange as this.
"I have a confession I want to make," the young man said. "You’re not allowed to divulge confidences, are you?"
Father Gilbert looked at the distraught man and replied, "Generally I adhere to strict rules of confidentiality."
"Generally? What do you mean ‘generally’?" he asked.
"If you killed someone or something like that," the vicar replied, chuckling at the absurdity of the thought, "I would have to encourage you to turn yourself in."
The young man didn’t think the comment was funny or absurd, and, a moment later, he was gone. Father Gilbert was left with nothing but questions. Who was the young man? Had a murder really taken place? And why hadn’t his secretary or anyone else seen the young man come or go? Had Father Gilbert been dreaming . . . or had he really heard someone confess to a murder? Find out in Focus on the Family Radio Theatre’s exciting audio drama—A Soul in Torment.
